Founding attorney Kim Buhler-Thomas has over 30 years of experience practicing immigration law, guiding clients through complex family- and employment-based immigration processes, visas, and permanent residence applications. Over the course of her career, Kim Buhler-Thomas has helped thousands of individuals, families, employers, and institutions navigate the U.S. immigration system with thoughtful, hands-on representation.

Buhler Thomas Law assists with a wide range of immigration matters, including nonimmigrant visas (such as H‑1B, TN, L‑1, O‑1, E‑1/E‑2, R‑1, and student and visitor visas), immigrant visas (including fiance visas, spouse visas, family visas, employment visas) family-based green cards, employment-based immigration, immigration and naturalization. The firm also helps with waivers, consular processing, and complex case strategies, and advises on employer work visa compliance, including PERM labor certifications, employment-based sponsorship, and workforce immigration planning.

Yes. Buhler Thomas Law primarily offers consultations via video calls, with phone consultations available as needed to clients throughout the United States and around the world.

Office hours are Monday–Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The office is closed on weekends and on designated holidays.

No preparation is required for your initial consultation. If you already have immigration documents or case materials, you are welcome to share your screen during the meeting so the immigration attorney can review them.

Kim Buhler-Thomas is the firm’s founder and lead attorney, with over 30 years of experience in immigration law representing both individual and corporate clients. Kim Buhler-Thomas holds a J.D. from the J. Reuben Clark Law School and a B.A. in International Relations with an emphasis in Chinese. Kim is licensed in Utah, admitted to the U.S. District Court for the District of Utah, and is a long-standing member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA). She has also presented on immigration topics to university international students, the Utah County Bar Association, and the Utah Board of International Education.

The attorneys at Buhler Thomas Law are active in community service. They offer a free first-time consultation to eligible full-time university students (including those on university-approved OPT) from select colleges and universities for the student’s own immigration matter, and present multiple free seminars each year to international students about their options to work and live in the United States legally.

Although based in Provo, Utah, Buhler Thomas Law serves clients across Provo, Orem, Salt Lake City, Ogden, St. George, Logan, Lehi, Rexburg, Pocatello and beyond.
